The Car

I looked for quite a while to find a 240Z that was straight and not badly rusted. I was amazed to drive a long way to look at several cars described in "mint" or "excellent" condition that I would consider in "dump" condition.

The car I ended up with was a '71 Z that was built in September of '70. An early car with the rear vents on the hatch and defroster vents running fore/aft. It ran good, but the color (yellow) wasn't at the top of my list. Also, it had cheesy chrome wheels, the typical sheepskin cover over the worn out driver's seat, one crack on the dash, and some surface rust on the bumpers. But the car appears to never have been wrecked, and since it was undercoated when new, there was virtually no rust on the all-important floor pans or sheet metal structures. It had been repainted along the way with the original color, but it wasn't a professional quality job. It had an oversized sway bar, Eibach springs that lowered it about an inch, and new strut inserts so it drove very nicely and had a subtle hunkered down appearance, which I like. The windows had just been tinted.

Here are some pictures of it, as I got it:
